University of Iowa College of Engineering students representing the Hawkeye student chapter of the Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers attended the 40th conference of the organization in Detroit, Michigan. The graduate students participated in graduate institute seminars, and undergraduates participated in the graduate studies prep track and in professional seminars provided by Fortune 500 companies.

Attending the event from the UI were Jason Cardenas, Andres Estenssoro, Juan Estenssoro, Andrea Diaz, Henry Baidoo, Consuelo Valladolid, Carlos A. Rios, Ana Lau, Felipe Nicolau, Ruben Llamas, Aribet De Jesus, Victor Robles, and Richard Gonzalez.

De Jesus and Diaz were recipients of poster research awards.  Diaz also was awarded a laptop computer from Intel Corporation.
