Oct. 13-17 marked the second annual We Are Phil giving appeal for University of Iowa faculty and staff, but the push to bolster private support for UI people and programs continues.

“It’s never a bad time to be Phil,” says Jen Knights, assistant director of campus philanthropy for the University of Iowa Foundation. “This is a year-around effort, and it’s great to see so many people put so much energy behind it.”

Last week, volunteers hosted more than 40 events across campus—pizza parties, trivia contents, interdepartmental challenges, a traveling karaoke glee club called the Phil-harmonics, and much more.

The number of We Are Phil volunteers has doubled since the campaign debuted in 2013, and at this point this year, more than 1,500 UI employees also are counted as donors. Final participation stats will be tallied at the end of the fiscal year.
