Party for art at the next University of Iowa Museum of Art First Friday reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 3, at FilmScene on College Street in the pedestrian mall in downtown Iowa City. Participants will be able to enjoy the “Masterwork of the Month” by local artist Ryan Bentzinger, and mingle with other art-enthusiasts.

Ryan Bentzinger is a teaching artist based in Iowa City. He graduated from the UI in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in studio art with honors in education. His artwork is inspired by imaginative stories and societal phenomena. He has exhibited his artwork regionally and internationally, and has recently had a drawing acquired for the permanent collection of the Santiago Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago, Chile.

First Friday participants may also wish to consider becoming a UIMA member. Courtesies include home delivery of the UIMA magazine and a personalized membership card that entitles you to free entry to the Figge Art Museum and reciprocal admission to other art museums around the country.
