The Rape Victim Advocacy Program (RVAP), which is partially funded by the University of Iowa, recently named a new executive director to replace Karla Miller, who retired earlier this year after a combined total of 22 years in the position at different time periods.

Jennifer Carlson, who worked at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and with the Arkansas Coalition Against Sexual Assault, began the position Aug. 4. RVAP Assistant Director Karen Siler has served as interim director since June 13.

RVAP provides confidential support and advocacy to victims/survivors of sexual abuse and their partners, friends, and family members. It serves the UI community as well as residents of Johnson, Cedar, Iowa, Washington, Henry, Des Moines, Lee, and Van Buren counties.
