Return trips yield another 80 interview sessions

Following is an update on Rising to the Next TIER, the transformation and efficiency study of Iowa’s public universities commissioned by the Iowa Board of Regents.

Check the University of Iowa’s TIER website for weekly updates, and submit recommendations for the study online.

As we near completion of week 9 of the 10 week Phase 1 TIER project, Deloitte has continued its stakeholder engagement through follow-up visits to the three universities over the last two weeks. This has resulted in an additional 80 interview sessions with more than 150 interviewees.

These visits have allowed Deloitte to listen to additional questions and concerns from each campus and validate much of the data it has collected in the Phase 1 project. The Deloitte team once again expresses its thanks to all campus stakeholders who continue to provide invaluable input into the process.

Next week, in the final week of the Phase 1 project, Deloitte will be preparing an update of the Phase 1 review in anticipation of sharing the findings in June.

In addition, Deloitte will continue to develop its plans for the Phase 2 project, which will begin in the summer with a greater focus on administrative analysis while the academic reviews continue at a slower pace. As the Phase 2 project continues into the fall, the academic reviews will once again be the priority as faculty, students, and staff return to campus.

Deloitte is interested in continued input from the university communities and the public over the summer months. All are encouraged to continue to submit comments on the TIER websites of the board and the universities, all of which can be accessed from the board's website.
