The University of Iowa School of Music will present a free concert by the University and Concert Bands at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 5, in the Second Floor Ballroom of the Iowa Memorial Union.

The University Band will be conducted by Carl Rowles, with Eric Bush and Steven Riley serving as guest conductors. The ensemble will perform:

  • Dedicatory Overture by Clifton Williams (arr. Jay Bocook)
  • As Summer Was Just Beginning by Larry Daehn
  • The Golden Age of the Xylophone (arr. Floyd E. Werle; Andrew Veit, xylophone soloist)
  • Symphony No. 4 for Winds and Percussion by Andrew Boysen Jr.

The Concert Band will be conducted by Kevin Kastens, with Kevin Kessler and Carl Rowles serving as guest conductors. The ensemble will perform:

  • Shortcut Home by Dana Wilson
  • Dusk by Steve Bryant
  • Hymn of St. James by Reber Clark
  • La Fiesta Mexicana by H. Owen Reed
