University of Iowa Youth Ballet, a community outreach program of the UI Department of Dance, will offer four weeklong dance workshops this summer: three for children and one for intermediate dancers.

The workshops are also known as "intensives" because students practice up to six hours a day for the week, depending on their level of experience.

The workshops to be offered are:

• Ballet Intensive Full-Day Camp, June 23-27, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This camp is for intermediate level students and will cover ballet, variations, body conditioning, jazz, modern dance, and dance appreciation. Tuition is $250.

• Nutcracker Camp for ages 5-6, June 16-20, 9:30 a.m. to noon. Tuition: $100.

• Cinderella Camp for ages 7-8, June 16-20, 12:30-3 p.m. Tuition: $100.

• Sleeping Beauty Camp for ages 9-10, June 23-27, 1-4 p.m. Tuition: $125.

The workshops are held in Halsey Hall, near the corner of Jefferson and Madison streets on the UI campus.
