Mason issues statement on White House sexual assault recommendations
University of Iowa President Sally Mason issued the following statement in response to recommendations issued today, Tuesday, April 29, by the White House Task Force to Protect Students From Sexual Assault:
I heartily welcome today’s recommendations by the White House Task Force to Protect Students From Sexual Assault, and we look forward to supporting their implementation at the University of Iowa.
I’m especially pleased that many of the recommendations put forward today align with and reinforce priorities we’ve already established at this campus to combat sexual misconduct, from surveying students and training staff charged with adjudicating cases, to offering victims advocate services and annually reviewing our sexual misconduct policies.
As I’ve said many times before, there is no excuse for sexual violence on campus, and any efforts to combat this problem have my full support.
