The Iowa Summer Music Camps, presented by the University of Iowa School of Music, will offer four camps in 2014, focusing on piano, musical theater, percussion, and jazz. Each camp features an outstanding faculty comprised of University of Iowa faculty and distinguished guest artists.

Piano and musical theater (a new discipline this year) will serve as themes for the first week of camps, which will run June 15-20. The second week of camps, featuring percussion and jazz, will run June 22-27.

Applications and more information can be found on the Iowa Summer Music Camps website. Application deadline is Friday, May 2; there is a discount for applications in by April 18.

The Iowa Summer Music Camps—now in their 62nd year and directed by Richard Mark Heidel, UI director of bands—offer students musical training and experience beyond what may be available in their schools, including group instruction, masterclasses, and classroom instruction in many phases of instrumental and vocal music. The entire program, together with a preview of life on a major university campus, is an invaluable experience for young people.
