Update on Thursday, May 8, at 9:10 a.m.: The steam blow date is now re-set for today, Thursday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Update on Monday, April 28 at 4:30 p.m: The steam blow scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, April 29, has been canceled due to technical difficulties. When this is rescheduled, a new notice will be published.

University of Iowa Facilities Management will conduct a series of utilities steam blows between 9 a.m. and noon Tuesday, April 29, near the northeast corner of UI Parking Lot 11 at the corner of Court and Capitol Streets. During this time period there will be several short, loud steam blows similar to the sound of the noon whistle. A large steam plume will be visible.

A portion of the sidewalk and Parking Lot 11 near the steam blow site will be closed to accommodate the steam blow process. Pedestrians may pass the work site, but due to loud noise it is recommended to use the sidewalk along the north side of Court Street and the east side of Capitol Street.

The steam blows are required to clean newly-installed underground steam distribution pipes.
