The University of Iowa will participate in the annual statewide tornado drill between 10 and 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 26 as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, which runs March 24-28.

The outdoor warning sirens in Johnson County and around campus will sound a tornado watch for 30 seconds at 10 a.m. Participants are encouraged to monitor the National Oceanic Atmosphere Administration weather radio before and during the statewide tornado drill and to exercise their severe weather safety plans as they would during a real event.

If severe weather is threatening the area the day of the drill, it will be postponed and held on Thursday, March 27 at the same time.
