The University of Iowa School of Music will present a free performance by The Four Hornsmen of the Apocalypse at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, in Room 150 of College Street Music 376 in downtown Iowa City.

The Four Hornsmen of the Apocalypse consists of French horn players Paul Blackstone, Audrey Good, Tony Licata, and Gerry Wood. For more than 15 years, the four musicians have captivated and excited audiences with their musicianship, technique, and comical repartee. They have performed at venues such as the 2010 Midsouth Horn Workshop in Stillwater, Okla., the 2009 International Horn Symposium in Macomb, Ill., and a wide selection of notable colleges throughout the United States, in addition to performing as soloists with the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra and the Compton Heights Band.

  • Grand Quartet, Op. 26 by Jacques-François Gallay
  • Earth Song by Frank Ticheli (trans. Molly Wood)
  • Send in the Clowns by Stephen Sondheim (arr. Gary Pattison)
  • Bagatelle by Hermann Neuling (trans. Brian Brown)
  • Eleanor Rigby/Yesterday by John Lennon and Paul McCartney
  • Tommy's Tarbukas by Alasdair Fraser (arr. Kazimierz Machala and Gerald Wood)
  • Salvation is Created by Paval Tchesnokov (trans. Gerald Wood)
  • Give It One by Maynard Ferguson (trans. Gary Slechta)

The School of Music is part of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
