Foundation campaign earns Best of Show in local competition

The University of Iowa Foundation’s “We Are Phil” campaign received Best of Show honors at the Feb. 22 American Advertising Awards Gala sponsored by the American Advertising Federation of Cedar Rapids-Iowa City.

All told, the UI Foundation and the University of Iowa brought home nearly two dozen awards from the annual competition, which recognizes creative excellence in advertising and promotional materials.

“We Are Phil,” a campaign to promote philanthropy among UI faculty and staff, also earned Best of Category and Gold awards. Staff contributing to the project included Danette Angerer, Eric Hodgson, Jen Knights, Sara O’Leary, Dan Sandersfeld, and Jill Tobin.

UI Student Life Marketing + Design also received a Gold award for the Art & Life in Africa website developed by Stephen Ausman, Alicia Kramme, Drew Parker, Dustin Quam, Jonathan Solis, Cory Gundlach, Catherine Hale, and Fidi Nagy.

In addition, Sondra Cue, a designer with University Communication and Marketing, was named Service Person of the Year for her volunteer contributions to the local American Advertising Federation chapter.

Silver awards went to the following UI departments and projects:
