Tuesday, January 28, 2014

In the words of composer Stephen Sondheim,“The art of making art … is putting it together.” Join the award-winning Iowa Percussion for an interesting look into the art of creating percussion music during a free public concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, in the University of Iowa’s Riverside Recital Hall, 405 North Riverside Drive, Iowa City.

The UI’s Arts Share and the Community Foundation of Johnson County are the sponsors of this annual concert.

The concert will feature the premiere performance of Iowa Percussion director Dan Moore's newest composition, “Race The Desert.” Learn what goes into writing a piece of music for a percussion ensemble and how the performers bring the music to life.

Iowa Percussion is a unit of the UI School of Music, in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
