The performing arts component of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Project Art will present a performance by the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band at noon Friday, Dec. 13, in the atrium of the John Colloton Pavilion at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The performance is free and open to the public.

In 1983, Lori Lippitz founded the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band, named for Chicago's old Sunday morning Jewish marketplace. In the years since, Maxwell Street has become the Midwest's most popular klezmer band, touring seven times in Europe and performing throughout the United States, including Carnegie Hall. Audiences of all backgrounds are delighted by Maxwell Street's high-energy performances that glow with warmth and humor.

The performing arts component of Project Art was created to offer diversion and stimulation through music, dance, and theater. Project Art schedules numerous performances each year; many Project Art performances take place during the noon hour to attract staff and visitors during lunch breaks.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to attend this concert, call Project Art in advance at 319-384-8068.
