The University of Iowa Center for New Music, housed within the UI School of Music, will present a Composers Workshop performance at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in Riverside Recital Hall on the UI campus.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The program features the work of UI doctoral and master’s students. The selections for the evening are:

  • String Quartet No. 2 (first movement), Leonid Iogansen
  • Three Monologues About the Same Thing, for string quartet, by Will Huff
  • Frozen Moments by Nima Hamidi
  • Fingerprint Skin Graft by Joshua Marquez
  • iaetre, for oboe, clarinet, and alto sax by Daniel Frantz
  • Uroboros, for solo clarinet, by Brian Penkrot
  • not in vain, for solo viola, by Jason Palamara
  • Contrast, for woodwind quintet, by Justin Comer
  • Wraith by Jonah Elrod

The Center for New Music, a performance organization devoted to the late 20th and early 21st century repertoire, is the focus of contemporary composition and performance at the UI.
