Helping other students realize their dreams

Not everyone thought going to college was a great idea for Michael O. Chan. They told him he was too old, unable to compete with students less than half his age.

Undaunted, Chan—who's worked 18 years in Food and Nutrition Services at UI Hospitals and Clinics—completed his University of Iowa degree in psychology in 2010. His experience has prompted him to give back as a UI donor.

Meet Chan, hear about his roots in China, and learn why he's supporting the We Are Phil campaign to encourage giving by UI faculty and staff. Learn more about the campaign on the UI Foundation website.
