Supporting the search for cures
Thursday, October 24, 2013

Joan Kjaer Kirkman will never forget the welcome her daughter Carolyn received at the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. Everyone there treated Carolyn like someone they expected to know for a long time.

Cancer ultimately took Carolyn's life. Her daughter's experience—and the care Carolyn received at the UI—inspire Kirkman to support the search for new treatments and, eventually, cures.

Hear Carolyn's story, meet Kirkman, and learn why she's supporting the We Are Phil campaign to encourage giving by UI faculty and staff. Discover more about the campaign on the UI Foundation website.
