Pentacrest Museums hosting eighth annual event Oct. 25
Friday, October 18, 2013

Have you ever wanted to go back in time to your favorite event in history? Or hop aboard the Enterprise or Tardis and travel deep into space? Set your time machine to Friday, Oct. 25, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and join the University of Iowa Pentacrest Museums for activities and fun at the eighth annual Creepy Campus Crawl. This year's theme is titled “Adventures Through Time and Space.”

Visitors to the Museum of Natural History will travel to lands and galaxies far, far away with the help of characters from Dr. Who, Star Wars, Firefly, and Star Trek. Guests can train to become a Jedi, identify alien species, and make space art from space junk. Scientists from the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Iowa Geologic and Water Survey will be on hand to guide you on the journey.

In collaboration with the UI Department of English and the Museum Studies Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, visitors to the Old Capitol Museum will travel between famous tales, meeting characters from thrilling stories such as Back to the Future, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and The Signalman! Guests can make their own time-turners from Harry Potter, visit the night of the school dance with Marty McFly, and wander through the maze from The Garden of Forking Paths.

The event is geared toward families with children, but everyone is welcome. Costumes are encouraged and the first 1,200 children will receive their own reusable trick or treat bag. For more information, visit the Museum of Natural History website or the Old Capitol Museum website.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to attend the event, contact Pentacrest Museum in advance at 319-335-0606.
