Koplant No

The University of Iowa School of Music will present a concert by jazz quartet Koplant No at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, in the University Capitol Centre Recital Hall on the UI campus.

The performance is free, and the public is welcome.

Koplant No features UI alumni Brian Lewis Smith on trumpet, keyboards, and laptop; Drew Morton on basses and synths; Rob Baner on drums, samples, and vibraphone; and Joel Vanderheyden on saxophone. The band has been developing its unique sound throughout the Midwest since 2008 and first recorded for saxophonist Joel Vanderheyden’s debut album, Complete Life. The group turned some heads when opening for the Bad Plus at the 2012 Twin Cities Jazz Festival, and has been noted as "one of the most innovative ensembles in the Midwest" by David Cazares from Minnesota Public Radio.

The School of Music is part of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to attend the concert, contact the UI School of Music in advance at 319-335-1603.
