The University of Iowa’s Hancher will present Masters of the Fiddle on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Englert Theatre in downtown Iowa City at 221 E. Washington Street. The performance stars fiddlers Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, who are married and are two of the most celebrated musicians from the music-rich Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Masters of the Fiddle features fiddle-driven music, dance, and song, blending musical influences including French, Celtic, Cajun, and American Bluegrass.

Hancher audiences enjoyed performances by MacMaster in 2005 and 2009, while her husband appeared with his family band, Leahy, for a Hancher holiday concert in 2010.

The Masters of the Fiddle performance is supported by the Hancher Partners and gifts to the Hancher Circle through the UI Foundation.

Tickets for Masters of the Fiddle are $35 and $30 for nonstudents; $31.50 and $27 for senior citizens; $31.50 and $10 for college students; and $17.50 and $10 for youth from the Hancher Box Office.

The Hancher Box Office, located on the first floor of the south end of the Old Capitol Mall near the parking ramp, is open for phone (335-1160 or 800-HANCHER) or walk-up business from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. Tickets may be ordered online at the Hancher website. Any remaining tickets will be available for sale one hour before show time at the Englert Theatre.
