Martine Bellen, Iris Marble Cushing, Magus Magnus, and Joshua Ware will read as part of the Furniture Press Books poetry tour at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City. The reading also will be streamed live on the University of Iowa Writing University website.

Bellen is the author of eight collections of poetry, including The Vulnerability of Order and Tales of Murasaki and Other Poems (which won the National Poetry Series Award), and the novella 2X. Her poetry has appeared in numerous anthologies. She has written the libretto for OVIDIANA, and done other opera collaborative works. She has been a recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Fund for Poetry and has had a Rockefeller Foundation residency in Bellagio, Italy. Bellen is a contributing editor of the literary journal CONJUNCTIONS. She will read from her new collection, Wabac Machine.

Cushing was born and raised in California. Her manuscript, Wyoming, was the winner of the 2013 Furniture Press Poetry Prize, selected by Thomas Devaney. A former resident of Arizona, she has been a writer-in-residence at Grand Canyon National Park. She now lives in New York, where she edits Argos Books. She will read from her newly published book of poetry, Wyoming.

Magnus is the author of The Re-echoes, Heraclitean Pride, Idylls for a Bare Stage, and Verb Sap. His poets theater work has been showcased at “Happenings at the Harman,” the 2013 Capital Fringe Festival, and New York’s Boog City Poetry and Music Festival. He lives and writes in the Washington, D.C., metro area. He will read from Re-Echoes.

Ware is the author of Homage to Homage to Homage to Creeley and several chapbooks. His writing has appeared in journals such as American Letters & Commentary, Colorado Review, Conduit, Gulf Coast, New American Writing, and Salt Hill. He lives in Cleveland, where he teaches at Case Western Reserve University and writes for the literary website Vouched Books.
