The University of Iowa men's and women's basketball teams made their first public appearances of the 2013-14 season on Friday, Oct. 25 at the annual Black and Gold Blowout. Nearly 7,200 fans came to Carver-Hawkeye Arena to get a sneak peak of Fran McCaffery and Lisa Bluder's squads.

The fan-friendly event featured player introductions with pyrotechnics, a dunk contest, and full-court scrimmages for both the men's and women's teams. Student-athletes and coaches signed autographs and posed for photos after the event.

The Hawkeye women's team is looking to make its sixth-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and will once again be hosting first and second round action of the NCAA Tournament in Iowa City this March.

The Hawkeye men's basketball team enters the season ranked inside the top 25 in numerous preseason polls after a runner-up finish in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) last year.
