The first Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Clinic Benefit Auction will take place Friday, Oct. 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the University Athletic Club. This will become an annual event, and everyone is invited to attend.

The benefit includes dinner and hors d’oeuvres, a live and silent auction, and a musical performance. Tickets may be purchased online or by contacting Jessica Taylor, National Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA) philanthropy chair, at jessica-n-taylor@uiowa.eduor Jean Gordon, NSSLHA advisor, at jean-k-gordon@uiowa.edu.

The cost is $40 per person. However, discounts are available to parties of two or more. Tickets must be reserved by Monday, Oct. 14.

Proceeds from the auction will go toward therapy services, camps, and support groups for underinsured clients of all ages. They will also help fund the student scholarship program and service trips to China and Nicaragua that bring audiology and speech-language pathology services to orphaned children.

The benefit is sponsored by the University of Iowa NSSLHA in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. For more information, visit the event website.
