Dave Burrell

The performing arts component of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Project Art will present a musical performance by jazz pianist extraordinaire Dave Burrell at noon Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the atrium of the John Colloton Pavilion at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The performance is free and open to the public.

Burrell’s dynamic compositions, rooted in blues and gospel, recall the tradition of Jelly Roll Morton, James P. Johnson, and Duke Ellington, as well avant-garde composers Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane.

The performing arts component of Project Art was created to offer diversion and stimulation through music, dance, and theater. Project Art schedules numerous performances each year; many Project Art performances take place during the noon hour to attract staff and visitors during lunch breaks.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to attend this concert, call Project Art in advance at 319-384-8068.
