The Pentacrest will be a busy place on Thursday, Sept. 12 as two campus events will take place near the Old Capitol.
Hawkeye Caucus kicks off a busy Thursday on the Pentacrest with the “I’m With Herky” photo session from noon to 1:30 p.m. Students will have the chance to win free nonstudent tickets to the Wisconsin vs. Iowa football game by taking their picture with Herky and posting it to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #ImWithHerky13.
“I’m With Herky” t-shirts will be given out at the Hawkeye Caucus kick off meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 11th in the Indiana Room of the IMU at 7p.m. for students to wear in the photo. Free t-shirts will also be given out on Thursday if students like the Hawkeye Caucus Facebook page.
Hawkeye Caucus is a collaboration of UI students, staff, alumni, and Iowans who work to increase public and legislative support for the University of Iowa.

The signature event of “Beat State Week” takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 with the first annual Pentacrest Pep Rally. Events include a Super Fan Getup Contest, encouraging students to sport their craziest Hawkeye attire. The UI Spirit Squads will judge the contest during the “Hawk-Walk” across the stage. Free popcorn and cotton candy will be available, and prizes will be awarded during trivia and field games.
The Pentacrest Pep Rally is presented by the UI Alumni Association Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (S.T.A.T) in partnership with the Hawks Nest, Campus Activities Board, UI Student Government (UISG), Hawkeye Caucus, and the UI Department of Athletics.
