University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop alumnus John Falsey will offer a free presentation, “Basics of Screenwriting for Fiction Writers and Poets,” at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, in the Frank Conroy Reading Room of the Glenn Schaeffer Library, adjacent to the Dey House.

Falsey is a 2013 College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Alumni Fellow. With Joshua Brand, Falsey created St. Elsewhere, I’ll Fly Away, and Northern Exposure. He has been nominated for 11 Emmy Awards and won three, as well as the Humanitas Prize, the Producers Guild of America Award, and the Environmental Media Award for Ongoing Commitment.

The Iowa Writers’ Workshop is a graduate program in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
