The University of Iowa College of Engineering will hold the third annual Richard L. Valentine Distinguished Lecture from 3:30 to 4:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, in 40 Schaeffer Hall on the UI campus. The talk is free and open to the public.

John C. Crittenden, professor of civil and environmental engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and director of the Brook Byers Institute for Sustainable Systems, will speak on “Developing Sustainable Urban Infrastructure to Solve Gigaton Problems."

Crittenden leads the creation of an integrated initiative in sustainable urban systems. He is an expert in sustainability, pollution prevention, physical-chemical treatment processes, nanotechnology, air and water treatment, wastewater and water treatment processes.
