The Old Capitol Museum, in conjunction with the University of Iowa Museum of Natural History and Museum of Art, will host a fall exhibit, “Cultures in Clay: Puebloan Vessels at the University of Iowa," opening Thursday, Aug. 29.

Native American potters—often mothers, grandmothers, family cooks, household contributors, and artists—have made ceramic vessels from Puebloan communities in the northern Southwest of the United States. The exhibit, curated by Margaret Beck, will focus on the types of vessels these people created and how they used them in everyday life.

The exhibit opens Thursday, Aug. 29 with a reception from 5-8 p.m. with light refreshments and a brief gallery talk at 6 p.m. with Beck. The exhibit will close on Sunday, Dec. 29.
