UI Student Health & Wellness believed to better reflect mission

University of Iowa Student Health Service and its health-promotion branch, Health Iowa, have been renamed UI Student Health & Wellness.

This name change was prompted by feedback from consumers who said they were unclear what products and services are provided by Health Iowa, which provides one-on-one consultations in fitness, nutrition, stress management, tobacco cessation, drug and alcohol use, and a multitude of other student health initiatives.

UI Student Health & Wellness, a service of UI Student Life and housed at 4189 Westlawn South on Newton Road, offers UI students a wide range of free and reduced cost clinical and health promotion services, from treatments for cold and flu to counseling and self-care help.

“We anticipate better understanding from the UI student population of the clinical and health promotion services we provide by simplifying our name,” says Student Health & Wellness Director James Kellogg.
