The University of Iowa School of Music will present a free recital by Horn Studio students, led by UI faculty member Jeffrey Agrell, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, in the University Capitol Centre Recital Hall in downtown Iowa City.

This concert will feature each member of the studio playing one work; several pieces were composed by the students.

  • Alla Caccia by Alan Abbott (Amanda Stout, horn; Casey Rafn, piano)
  • Concerto No. 1, op. 8 (I. Allegro) by Franz Strauss (John Filippone, horn; Casey Rafn, piano)
  • Sonata (Mvt. 1: Allegro) by Joseph Rheinberger (Alyssa Carlson, horn; Casey Rafn, piano)
  • Fables from Aesop by Howard J. Buss (Megan Starrett, horn)
  • Chanson (from Songs of Sorrow) by James Naigus (Drew Phillips, horn; James Naigus, piano)
  • Suite for Horn and Piano by Drew Phillips (James Naigus, horn; Drew Phillips, piano)
  • Reverie for 2 horns and piano by James Naigus (James Naigus and Drew Phillips, horns; Casey Rafn, piano)
