The University of Iowa School of Music will present a free performance by the University Choir and Kantorei at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, in the Second Floor Ballroom of the Iowa Memorial Union.

The University Choir, conducted by Timothy Stalter, director of choral activities in the UI School of Music, will perform works by the likes of Mozart, Brahms, and Ivor Gurney. Sarah Zietlow will serve as accompanist.

Kantorei, also conducted by Stalter, will perform works by Samuel Barber and William Byrd, among others. John P. Rakes will serve as accompanist.

Prior to coming to the University of Iowa, Stalter was assistant director of choral activities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, director of choral activities at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and assistant professor of music at Goshen College in Indiana. Stalter is particularly interested in researching issues relating to the teaching of conducting to undergraduate and graduate students, contemporary British choral music, and historical musical performance. He is a frequent guest clinician in the United States and is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association.
