A career networking event in Des Moines will offer expert tips on improving the negotiation skills that are an important part of daily activities at work and at home.

Part of a regular networking series hosted by the alumni associations of the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and the University of Northern Iowa, “Why Won't They Budge?"—Understanding What It Takes to Negotiate will be held Wednesday, May 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dos Rios Cantina and Tequila Lounge, 316 Court Ave., Des Moines. Lunch will be provided, and UI Alumni Association members benefit from a reduced registration fee.

Lon Moeller, UI clinical professor and associate dean of undergrad programs in the Henry B. Tippie College of Business, will discuss the basics of recognizing what people want from a negotiation and how to more effectively reach an agreement.

Register by noonWednesday, May 1, by visiting www.iowalum.com/career/networking.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, contact Whit France-Kelly at the UIAA in advance at 319-335-3296.
