Camerata is a select ensemble of 50 to 70 singers and is open to both UI students and the greater community. Camerata usually presents three concerts per year and joins the UI Symphony Orchestra for two concerts of major works.

In addition to conducting Camerata, Puderbaugh teaches graduate choral literature and undergraduate choral conducting, advises D.M.A. theses, and assists in administration of the choral program. A native Iowan, Puderbaugh holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Drake University, a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting and pedagogy from the University of Iowa. His current research interest centers on Estonian choral music, a fascination that resulted in a Fulbright Fellowship to conduct dissertation research on that country’s national song festivals during the Soviet occupation.

John P. Rakes will serve as the graduate guest conductor for the April 7 event; John C. Hughes will be the assistant conductor; and Sarah Zietlow will serve as accompanist.

The School of Music is part of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. For accommodations at the concert contact the School of Music at 319-335-1603. For a UI arts calendar and details about upcoming events visit the new Arts Iowa website.
