The University of Iowa School of Music will present free performances by the University Band and Concert Band at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 11, in the Second-Floor Ballroom of the Iowa Memorial Union.

The University Band program will feature:

  • Firework by Jan van Der Roost
  • Irish Legend by Ed Kiefer
  • Introduction, Theme, and Variations by Gioachino Rossni
  • Sleepers, Awake! by Johann Sebastian Bach (trans. Alfred Reed)
  • Elements by Brian Balmages
  • Whip and Spur Galop by Thomas Allen

Kevin Kessler will conduct the University Band, and will be joined by guest conductors Eric Bush and Ernest Jennings. Lisa Wissenberg will be featured on clarinet on the Rossni piece.

The Concert Band will perform:

  • Kirkpatrick Fanfare by Andrew Boysen Jr.
  • Satiric Dances by Norman Dello Joio
  • Resting in the Peace of His Hands by John Gibson
  • Jericho Rhapsody by Morton Gould

Conductor Kevin Kastens will be joined by guest conductors Kevin Kessler and Steven Riley.
