Upcoming programs from University of Iowa Recreational Services will keep some participants dancing and sweating, others building shelter and finding their way through the wild.

Join the Zumba Fitness Party Saturday, March 9, if dancing's your thing. Held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC), the event will feature certified Zumba instructors Kate Jochum and Erin Donohue.

Advance registration is available at the CRWC membership desk—$3 for members, $10 for nonmembers. See the Rec Services website for more information.

Prefer roughing it? An April 6-7 Wilderness Survival Camping course at the Macbride Nature Recreation Area offers a chance to learn basic survival skills while meeting new people and camping out.

Lessons will include building your own shelter, starting a fire without matches, cooking over the fire, and navigating without a map or compass. Participants must provide their own transportation and attend a mandatory pretrip meeting.

Register by March 29—fee is $65 for members and nonmembers. See the Rec Services website for more, or contact Dave Patton at david-patton@uiowa.edu.
