The Ten Minute Play Festival, featuring eight plays written by University of Iowa undergraduate students, will be showing at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 14-16, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, in Theatre B of the UI Theatre Building.

The eight plays include:

  • A Piece of Cake, written by Emily Brink and directed by Bryan McIntyre
  • I’d Like to Report a Poem, written by David Freeman and directed by Sam Summer
  • I’ll Be Seeing You, written by Tanner Hallenstein and directed by Christina Patramanis
  • In My Normal World, written and directed by Jessie Traufler
  • It Takes a Village, written by Natalie Vicchio and directed by Taylor Cook
  • Piddlekins, written by Taylor Cook and directed by Ben TeBockhorst
  • The Workforce, written by Erin Marshall and directed by Christina Patramanis
  • Wild Jacarandas, written and directed by Levi Smith with lighting designed by Tyler Brogla

Admission is $5 (free for students with a valid UI ID).

Hallenstein, sophomore playwright of I'll Be Seeing You, is excited for the festival to open. “My first experience with the Ten-Minute Play Festival has proven to be a fantastic opportunity here at the University of Iowa,” she says. “I am surrounded by talented individuals working together to put on the best show possible, one that showcases new art.”

The Ten-Minute Play Festival, presented by the UI Department of Theatre Arts, celebrates its 16th anniversary this year. Many plays from previous festivals have been produced throughout the country, and several of the plays have been published.
