A wood engraving of a woman and man dancing, surrounded by jazz instruments
The wood engraving, titled "Boogie Woogie," provides the spirit of the "New Deal Fundraiser" planned for March 2 by the UI Museum of Art. "Boogie Woogie" was created in 1940 by Mildred Rackley (American, 1906–1992). It is a gift to the UI Museum of Art from the Estate of James Lechay.

Step back in time to a swinging 1930s nightclub at the University of Iowa Museum of Art’s New Deal Museum Party Fundraiser from 8-11 p.m. Saturday, March 2, in the Oakdale Ballroom at the Coralville Marriott Hotel & Conference Center.

With musical guests Kristen Behrendt, Steinway artist Dan Knight, and Rod Pierson’s “Not So” Big Band featuring Craig Boche, be sure to pack your dancing shoes! Dennis Green of KCCK will serve as master of ceremonies.

What’s new about the New Deal Fundraiser? It’s taking place at a new time of year. More importantly, the new admission price, $50 per person, is half of the old admission price. In addition, $25 is tax deductible. To order tickets, call 319-335-1725.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will support UIMA programming for the 2013-14 academic year. Interactive displays and short video presentations will afford guests the opportunity to learn more about a variety of UIMA programs and to sponsor those that they value most.

The New Deal Fundraiser is generously supported by: Honorary Chairs: Ann and Alan January; Party Sponsors: University of Iowa Community Credit Union and Willis Law Firm/Security Abstract; Party Hosts: Anna and James Barker; Jackie Blank; Margaret C.
