Starting Jan. 1, 2013 all campus telephone users will need to dial 9 to get an outside line prior to dialing an off-campus number. At that time, dialing 8 to get an outside line will no longer work.

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics will start using a new block of telephone numbers starting with 678-XXXX. In order to preserve five-digit dialing between campus and the UIHC, the use of 8 for an outside line must be discontinued.
