Event also features activities for children
Tuesday, November 6, 2012

Join us at the University of Iowa Old Capitol Museum on Wednesday, Nov. 14, for an evening of trivia for students and adults as well as craft making fun for children. The doors open at 4:45 p.m. Trivia starts at 5 p.m. with snacks and refreshments for everyone, and prizes for winners. Visitors can participate as individuals or on a team of up to five members. Topics include local and state history, the Civil War, pop culture, Napoleon, and more.

Children are welcome to attend and learn about Civil War era haversacks worn by both Union and Confederate soldiers. Participants will view the Civil War exhibit and make their own haversack to take home. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Contact the museum at 319-335-0548 to reserve your trivia table and a spot for your little crafters.

Both Trivia Night and the Wednesday Workshop are being offered in conjunction with the current exhibit, “Gone to See the Elephant: The Civil War through the Eyes of Iowa Soldiers,” which features profiles of Iowans who were in or connected to the Civil War. The Trivia Night was organized by Museum Studies students from the Introduction to Museology Course taught by Old Capitol Museum's Associate Director Shalla Ashworth.
