Old Capitol Museum hosts film, lecture Nov. 8

The Old Capitol Museum is beginning its fall film screening series Thursday, Nov. 8, with Love and Valor. The free movie and film director’s talk will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. in Macbride Auditorium.

Love and Valor is a narrative-style documentary film based on the book Love and Valor–The Intimate Civil War Letters Between Captain Jacob and Emeline Ritner. The movie has received numerous recognitions at film festivals including “Best Documentary” at the 2010 Black Earth Film Festival, 2011 Beloit International Film Festival, Emerging Filmmaker Award, and the 2011 ReelHeART International Film Festival.

The film director, Charles Larimer, will be available for a lecture and discussion following the film. Larimer will cover topics including how he found the letters, and the relatives and stories he encountered during his research. The film is 83 minutes long and unrated.
