Iowa Writers’ Workshop alumnus Nick Twemlow and Joel Craig will read from their poetry at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, in a free reading at Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City. The reading also will be streamed live on the University of Iowa Writing University website.

Twemlow is a writer and filmmaker who serves as a senior editor for the Iowa Review and co-editor of Canarium Books, a publisher of contemporary poetry. He will be reading from his first book of poems, Palm Trees, which will be published in November by Green Lantern Press. Twemlow’s films have screened at festivals around the world, including Tribeca, SXSW, Slamdance, Shnit International, Athens, FLEX, and Starz Denver.

Craig is the poetry editor for MAKE: A Chicago Literary Magazine, and the organizer of the Danny’s Tavern Reading Series, which has run for more than 10 years in Chicago. He will be reading from his new book, White House.

The Iowa Writers’ Workshop is a graduate program in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
