Kenneth Tse, professor of saxophone in the University of Iowa School of Music, will be joined by Alan Huckleberry, UI associate professor of piano, for a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, in Riverside Recital Hall on the UI campus.

The recital is free and open to the public.

The program will include Guy Lacour’s Dualités for Alto Saxophone and Piano (2012), William Lovelack’s Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano (1974), and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition for Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Baritone Saxophones and Piano (2012).

Widely recognized as one of the leading classical saxophonists in the world, Tse began his career as a winner of the New York Artists International Competition, making his Carnegie Hall debut in 1996 and being hailed “a young virtuoso” by the New York Times. Since then he has been a frequent soloist and clinician in five continents making appearances with major ensembles around the globe. Tse has been a prolific recording artist since his first CD for Crystal Records at age 23 and has had more than thirty compositions by various composers worldwide dedicated to him. Praised for his “impeccable musicianship, exhilarating technique, and panache” (American Record Guide), Huckleberry has performed both in recitals and as a soloist with orchestras in Germany, England, the Czech Republic, Italy, Austria, Spain, France, Costa Rica, Colombia, and across the United States. Huckleberry is also in demand as a chamber musician, with recitals across the United States, Australia, and Europe. He can be heard on four compact disc recordings on the Crystal Record and Albany Record labels.
