Tuesday, October 23, 2012

"The Fossil Guy" series continues at the University of Iowa Museum of Natural History at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, with “Twilight of the Dinosaur Age." Each program consists of a 30-minute talk by Don Johnson, a local amateur paleontologist, followed by a question-and-answer session. The free public programs are geared toward elementary-age children and are held in Macbride Auditorium.

The Nov. 3 program will provide insights about the last dinosaurs to roam the earth over 65 million years ago including Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, and Hadrosaurs – duck-billed dinosaurs found in Iowa. In addition, the bones of “Laura, the Duck-billed Dinosaur” will be on display. Other genuine dinosaur fossil bones, eggs, teeth, and claws will also be on view, as will replicas.

Join us for the next two events in the Fossil Guy series: “When Mammoths Roamed Iowa,” on Saturday, Nov. 10 and “Become a Paleo Private Eye,” on Saturday, Nov. 17.
