The University of Iowa Center for New Music (CNM) will present a free concert featuring guest artist Michael Norsworthy on clarinet and CNM director David Gompper on piano at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28, in the Senate Chamber of Old Capitol on the UI campus.

The program for the event is as follows:

  • Spiegel im Spiegel (Arvo Pärt)
  • Charme (Gerard Grisey)
  • Bug (Bruno Mantovani)
  • Clarinet Sonata (Michael Finnissy)
  • Tierkreis – Zodiac, Nr. 41 8/9 (Karlheinz Stockhausen)

Norsworthy has premiered more than 100 new works at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Vienna's Musikverein, Moscow's Tchaikovsky Hall, and the Aspen Festival. He has recorded for Mode, Gasparo, Albany, New World, BMOP/sound, Nonesuch, Canteloupe, and Cauchemar records. Norsworthy is principal clarinet with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, on faculty at the Boston Conservatory, artist in residence at Harvard University with Harvard Group for New Music, and a performing artist for Buffet Crampon and Rico Reeds International.
