University of Iowa Recreational Services is hosting the second annual Pump 'n' Run on Saturday, Oct. 6. The event includes bench-press weight lifting and a 5K treadmill run.

Participants will bench press their body weight or a percentage of their body weight. For every repetition they perform, they will deduct 15 seconds from their 5K run time.

Awards will be given for first, second, and third place in each age-group division, as well as for overall division winners.

The event begins at 10 a.m. at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC). The entry fee is $25 for Recreational Services members, $30 for nonmembers.

Registration is available at the membership services desk at the CRWC or the Field House, or download a registration form from the website and mail it to Recreational Services, Attn: Matthew Stancel; 309 S. Madison St; Iowa City, IA 52242. It must be postmarked by Sept. 27 to guarantee a shirt. Race-day registration also is accepted, but shirts will not be available.
