A $3,000 gift to the We Care—Pass It On Fund made recently by University of Iowa Student Government will provide emergency financial assistance to UI students.

The We Care—Pass It On Fund was established in 2011 by a gift from Christine D. Wood to the UI Foundation. Grants from the fund support students experiencing emergency financial difficulty and allow recipients to continue their enrollment at the UI in the event of hardships caused by disasters, family emergencies, sudden health issues, or sudden and major losses in income, among other unexpected circumstances.

Wood graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1988, and later received a Master of Science degree in 1991, both from the UI. She currently resides in Madison, Wis., and the United Kingdom.

Any of the nearly 22,000 undergraduate students enrolled at the UI are eligible for grant money from the fund.

The UI acknowledges the UI Foundation as the preferred channel for private contributions that benefit all areas of the university. For more information, visit www.uifoundation.org.
