The University of Iowa Museum of Art (UIMA) invites you to "Come Together" and party for art at the First Friday reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 7. After a summer at other venues in Iowa City and Coralville, the UIMA welcomes the First Friday series back to its original location at HotelVetro, 201 S. Linn St., Iowa City.

Artist Eliezer (Ely) Antonio Sotillo Rodriguez, the mastermind behind Solidarity, the new mural adorning the north wall of the Dubuque Street parking ramp adjacent to HotelVetro, will attend to informally discuss his work. A special movie documenting the five-story mural’s progress will also be on display.

In addition, the $5 admission fee allows you to indulge in hors d’oeuvres and drink specials from the Formosa bar and to enjoy live music by the Steve Grismore Trio.

First Friday participants who upgrade to full UIMA membership will get benefits including home delivery of the UIMA magazine and a special donor card that entitles you to free admission to the Figge Art Museum, current home of much of the UIMA collection, as well as reciprocal admission to more than 20 other art museums.
