Ashworth will present lecture on Iowa's ever-changing campus May 31

Join Shalla Ashworth as she shares stories of the University of Iowa’s ever-changing campus. Her lecture, “Irving Weber’s University of Iowa,” will present a colorful history of the campus through images of its alterations and anecdotes collected by Iowa City's famous historian.

The free, public event will take place in the Old Capitol Museum's Supreme Court Chamber on Thursday, May 31, at 6:30 p.m. Ice cream will be served in the Old Capitol Rotunda.

In addition, Iowa City's Old Capitol Chorus will sing popular songs from various decades. Now in its 48th year, the a capella, four-part harmony group includes several UI staff members.

Ashworth's lecture is part of the month-long celebration of Irving Weber Days, organized by the Johnson County Historical Society, which honors the life of Iowa City's beloved historian Irving B. Weber (1900–1997) through a variety of local history programs and events. For full program information, visit the Johnson County Historical Society online.

Ashworth, associate director of the Old Capitol Museum, part of the UI Pentacrest Museums, has worked for the museum for over 15 years and has been teaching in the UI Museum Studies program since 2008.
