Multimedia exhibition explores consequences of contemporary screen culture
Thursday, May 3, 2012

Students in the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History's media art lab will present Screen Capture, a multimedia art exhibition that uses the screen as a medium for the creation and presentation of contemporary art. Artists whose works will be displayed were selected from more than fifty international entries. The public is invited to visit the exhibition, which runs May 3-9 in the Media Theater of Art Building West, located at 141 N. Riverside Dr. in Iowa City. Admission is free and open to the public.

The artworks presented in Screen Capture each offer a fresh perspective on the screens that we all come in contact with on a daily basis, and seek to challenge the viewer’s relationship with those screens by pushing the boundaries of interpretation. The exhibition presents the screen as a flexible form, with some works exploring and positioning the screen as object, and others using it as a conceptual window into contemporary culture.
